Exploration of Huddersfield is a personal project where I explore places, and record using different forms, Photography, Video, Sketching, Painting; which ever form it leads you. I chosen Huddersfield, due to heavy amount of stories and histories surrounding the place. Huddersfield it is a very unique and beautiful town that holds monuments and scenic sights. Using my concertina, to record my journey around huddersfield.
Exploring the city
In order to find out what make Huddersfield unique compared to other towns/cities, I have Huddersfield’s history, Huddersfield’s market is one of England oldest market town which mean through time and generations, there will be heritage. Huddersfield main unique selling point is the location since it is in the middle of the countryside, which mean it has beautiful views. The architectural of Huddersfield buildings are also very intriguing, mixtures of new modern and old victorian establishments.

In my concertina, I been meaning to use acetate sheet and I wanted to give the authentic feel of a travel diary where you cut out, tear out and stick on (then draw on top using sharpies) but more subtle.
Artist Moodboard
Based on my mind map, Ive been visited where I researched, but after Ive drawn the locations, I'd feel they were lacking colours and I wanted to look at few famous artist to find an inspiration or a style. Andy Warhol, Eduardo Paolozzi and Paul Catherall has piqued due to their style of approach.

Another side outcome through artist inspiration, using Warhol's approach but I felt displeased, I was mainly unsatisfied that the tower lacking little bit detail, after that I decided to do something different other than bright colours and pop art, I wanted to try out minimalism.

Minimalism is successful for me

Then to summarise my journey around huddersfield, I wanted to create a map that pay tribute to huddersfield's histories, events, myths and combine it with fantasy imaginations.
